Blastocystis sp from duck faeces. (EM by Deb Stenzel). Blastocystis sp. infections are common in birds - unlike Blastocystis sp. in chickens, the Blastocystis sp in ducks has a nucleus with a crescentic band of chromatin as in the human parasite.
